LaCrosse Community Calendar

The LaCrosse Public Library Board

meets the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

in the Community Room.

You're officially invited to

The LaCrosse Public Library Christmas Cookie Exchange!

ADULTS ONLY
Monday, December 5, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

  • All cookies must be homemade.  No slice and bake, store bought, etc.

  • Regardless of what you decide to make, please bring a total of 5 dozen cookies to the exchange.  All 5 dozen should be of that 1 cookie (for most recipes, this is just a double batch).

  • Package your cookies in groups of THREE to a bag.  We suggest buying the Ziploc Snack Size bags which easily hold three normal size cookies.  We will have all of the cookies on a table.  We will walk around and collect our 5 dozen cookies to take home!  This is a great way to get a variety of cookies, and there is need to bag up your cookies since that's already taken care of!

  • Bring a small number of cookies for judging (6) as there will be a prize for the best cookie.

  • Bring a small container to collect your cookies - large baskets or plastic containers work great.

  • Email your recipes to lacrossepubliv@live.com or bring them to the library ASAP to reserve your recipe and reserve a spot at the exchange.  We won't allow duplicate recipes/ideas!

  • We will put all recipes into a small cookbook and will have that for each person the day of the exchange.

  • A few tips from others that have been hosting these parties for many years:

  • Try to pick a treat that will freeze well so that people can freeze cookies and pull them out before company comes over.  (Most flour based cookies are great).

  • Try your recipe ahead of time.  Don't pick something you've never made and bake it the night before!

  • Bake early and freeze your cookies if needed - no excuses!  We want your smiling face here!

We will be providing light refreshments.

If you have any questions, please contact Linda Parlin at 219-754-2214.

The library's first cookie exchange was a success!

Third place was awarded to
Sandy Heinold for Turtle Bars.
Second place was given to
Kathy Fischer for Chocolate-Peppermint Thumbprint cookies. And Carol Ailes won first place for her No Bake Fruit Hash Balls.

Thank you to the judges and participants!
Congratulations to all!
